Of course, purple is the answer to long bloom when you add a morning glory to a container that greets you ever day.
Some colors are more perfect than others. Purple may be one of them~I've painted chairs, a tuteur and a fence a deep rich velvet purple. So would you be surprised to discover that more purple has been added to the gardens of Clay and Limestone? Bear with me please~and have a seat on the Waiting Bench.
The Waiting Bench is where I sit waiting for butterflies to visit the Susans or contemplate garden changes. It's where I wait on mosquito less days for visiting friends or pause to rest. A gardening friend with a poetic nature christened it such...and the name stuck and grew to include the wild garden behind it. I love the 'new' bench. It invites visitors and gardener to sit and enjoy the garden. It's a good focal point. The rich brown echoed the columns on the carport and the house. In a garden with a lot going on, the brown looked lovely all year long. Alas, poor Bench, has lost his zing to a brutal summer sun and heavy rains earlier this summer. He needed a face lift...
In this case, purple is the answer, when the question is~ "What can give my garden pizazz?"
Gail
The bench is looking quite charming although I would like to see a shot of it with you sitting waiting patiently for the bees, butterflies and other guests. Purple is the answer.
ReplyDeleteI love purple. Our front door is purple. Go for more purple.
ReplyDeleteOh Gail, Yesyesyes! Purple flowers, purple foliage like perilla and phormium, purple benches, tall purple poles - the best color in the world :)

ReplyDeleteIt is one of my favorite garden colors, and your purple is lovely. Though I am glad purple is the answer, I need to know what's the question.

One of our wood benches is just over weathered...gotta go.
Your bench has that come hither look now with its fresh coat of purple. Do mosquitoes ever go away? It seems like they are here year round. Of course they aren't it just seems like it.

Hello Gail,
ReplyDeleteAsters or Stokesia.....I don't think I could choose just one of the two - I would want both in my garden. I just love the beautiful purples :-)
I remember when you first painted the waiting bench, Gail; purple definitely was the answer! I've found that bees seem to migrate to anything purple in my garden.
ReplyDeletePositively purple! Love it. Love more that you're not afraid to use bright paint in the garden. Wonderful!

The purple bench looks wonderful in the garden. Even though you have lots of purple flowers, I don't know that it would have occurred to me to try it on furniture. Just perfect.
ReplyDeleteMy asters are blooming (and barely holding up their heads); gotta love something with so many flowers at this season.
Yes, PURPLE! The flowers are so wonderful against the greens of the foliage! And I love your bench!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's it! A purple bench is just the ticket for your garden. I did the same thing recently, only mine was painted bright green. Did you see a post last month called We've Been Busy? There you'll see my latest garden projects. Lovely garden, as usual!
ReplyDeleteI think there is a poem called "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple." But why wait?
