If It Were Only Possible!

A few crocus still grace the garden

I would make duplicates of myself like Michael Keaton did in Multiplicity

...Minus the problems that of course accompany such hubris!

Kale in flower

Perhaps, I could get my life organized!

Grape Hyacinths

Sometimes to get more out of life, you have to make more of yourself* (movie tag line)

Imagine yourself multiplied by one or two or even three! The things we could all accomplish!

Rue-anemone/Thalictrum/Anemonella thalictroides

I'm sure I could use another me somewhere in my life~~

Redbud and blue sky

Professional gail... She could just see my clients and do all my networking!

Techie gail...She could create a superblog! But, I would be thrilled if she would just update my blog: add blog links, give me more control over photo sizes and improve the layout!

Domestic goddess gail...She could make my house sparkling clean, fold laundry (and put it away) keep food in the house, and while she's at it, she can provide a few planned meals. She would never let us run out of chocolate.

Costco Pink Tulips

Blogger gail...She could be totally devoted to blogging. The poster child for blogging~~ answer comments in a timely fashion, visit all the blogs she wanted to visit, find and explore new blogs!

Gardener gail...She could learn to sow and propagate plants! She could build and plant a vegetable garden. She would finish all the chores on the to do list! Who am I kidding, she would make a To Do List and, gasp, keep a journal!

Alas, there is only one of me!

Viola Etain

There
aren't enough hours in the day to do all we need to do or want to do! Take today~~I have to be here for the delivery of a new washing machine, (did I tell you it died, too!) take care of taxes, stop at the bank, the post office and the grocery store! What I want to do is hang out with you!

Now, where did I leave my other selves?

Gail

Has the weather calmed down where you live? It was ferocious here and felt more like February then the end of March! It doesn't matter what Mother Nature throws at us...There is no stopping spring from arriving in our gardens or in our spirits! I hope your day is filled with wonder and of course, gardening.

  1. I do understand for sure, love your photos and our weather has calmed down her in North FL. they said (whoever they are) we may get more thunderstorms Tues and Wed!!

  2. Beautifully done !!
Goddess Gail made me chuckle, the Viola Elain pansies won my heart and of course your photos speak for themselves.
    You're very entertaining !

  3. Good one Gail! I was right up with you until the clean house part. I want someone else to do that. ;-) I buy all sorts of cleaning products promising to make the work easier, but in reality I would rather have someone else do it!
Love the redbud against the blue sky. costco pink tulips???

  4. Ha!!! I know just what you mean. I always wanted to clone myself so that several of me could tend to the yard and gardens, a couple of me could work at various jobs (some high-paying, some simply satisfying), one of me could be left alone to write, one could enjoy visiting and exploring, and meanwhile, the real me could sleep! Alas, we had our first crocuses yesterday, and had barely had a chance to admire them when we were hit with a horrific hailstorm. Yikes!!!

  5. I am sure it would be a nice idea for yourself and others, but I wouldn' be able to put up with another me.

  6. Gail,

Life can be overwhelming at times - torn between the must-do and the want-to-do! Once upon a time, I was a Type A personality. I'm learning to let go, go slow and let things happen. I've not seen any dire consequences of delayed housekeeping and puttering in the garden instead of tackling it head on. :-)

    Cheers and smiles,
    Cameron

  7. Wouldn't that be something Gail! ;) I would love to clone myself for moments like you described, oh well guess we just do the best we can. There are only so many hours in the day, if we didn't need sleep that would be something huh? lol Your garden is full of beauty right now!

  8. It would be nice to be able to multiply ourselves, wouldn't it? I'm sure Jamie will argue that one of me is enough!

  9. LOL, Gail, I've often wanted to clone myself, too. One of them would definitely be the organizer, and one would have to be someone who actually liked doing housework:)

I already think of you as Superwoman, Gail, the way you keep up with your professional life and still manage to keep up with so many blogs, leaving such encouraging comments, not to mention posting regularly yourself. We all would understand if there are times when the rest of life intervenes and you don't have time for blogging!

Take care; remember what happened to those other Michael Keaton clones--there's only one Gail!

  10. Gail ... How cool would that be !! I want to have all the ones you have pin pointed for those exact jobs as well : ) .. one more .. "Calm Gal" that takes everything in stride VERY calmly and holds the house in serene control .. making everyone happy .. through these renovations especially ? more for me than the boys .. BIG sigh ! LOL
    Great post : )

  11. I understand that feeling! Even having just one more of myself I would work wonders! Unfortunately we are only given one self to do it all. It makes life more interesting that way!

  12. Firstly, isn't it cool how grape hyacinths look most of the time, versus extremely close up when you can see the individual flowers? Secondly, egads, no! I would love to be someone else for a while, but I do not want more than one of me, not even to help get things done! :-)

  13. Hi Gail, B-E-A-U-tiful flowers and photos.I nearly busted our washing machine in a moment of laziness. I walked out into a laundry room full of thick black smoke. I thought it was coming from the heater, so I turned it off! LOL! I couldn't believe the washing machine kept working after that one. Maybe it wouldn't have happened if there were two, or more, of me who bothered to separate that ginormous load of laundry.

  14. Some days I feel like I am full of ... all of those selves. However most days they are stuck in their chair being a slug.

  15. I remember that movie and I remember thinking exactly the same thing;) How great to have someone you can count on, someone you never disagree with.

  16. That would be wonderful! Our dryer has just died - don't you hate equipment and appliance problems? Ugh!

  17. Hi sis. This seems to be the only way to communicate with you since your PC is down. I love the original Gail!! But I am sure the clones would be wonderful, too. Your baby sister can come for a few days and be your cleaning lady. It would be an early Birthday or late Christmas gift.

  18. HA Gail, I won't fall for the obvious and comment on the list and journal Gail! :-) You know I love all the Gails, real and make believe. Your sense of humor is the most delightful Gail of all, Funny Gail. Spring is arriving, ignoring the cold temps and frosty leaves, she just cannot be stopped. All of your tasks will get done, whenever you get to them, and whether or not you take time out for some friendly visiting.

  19. You know I think I had all those selves when I was mucg younger... wonder where they all went to?? Now I am left with the procrastinator, the frumpy, the weary, and the forgetful selves. :)

Love your spring blooms-so gorgeous. But those tulips are stunning!

Hope your day goes well and you get to enjoy your lovely spring garden.

  20. Ah, the many faces of Gail ~ a thoughtful post! I'm with Rose, you are a SuperWoman and appear to juggle your life, splendidly. But I know the feeling, teased about my many passions ... it's all about time!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh, how I empathize with you Gail! Aside from the normal living requirements - raising kids, keeping house, taking care of dogs and "stuff," there is also gardening, blogging, scrapbooking...and I'm afraid I am realizing that reading has fallen way down on the list since I've started blogging...I guess something's gotta give.

  22. I could have done with a clone yesterday. I started the day wrong footed as had forgotten that the clocks had gone forward. My son was ill for the fourth day running and my patience was wearing thin and then the TV gave up

    ReplyDelete
  23. I completely understand the need for another me, but I don't think the world would be ready for it! ha! Cute post. Or, perhaps our other selves would be the ones to get together and WE would be jealous! ha.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Gail, I have often had the same thought. Several of me, none of whom would complain about the chores or ever get tired. One could do the weedwacking, another the stalls, another run to the grocery store, another make dinner, etc etc.

I feel for you about the washing machine. We just got our 3rd in 12 years. The first two were Whirlpool's too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. That's the perfect solution, Gail! I just need to clone myself and send her to the office so I can spend the day in the garden. In any case, I think you're pretty incredible all by yourelf! Better yet, clone yourself and send her over to my garden.

  26. Dear Gail....I am beaming from ear to ear....that really was funny.....
personally I think one of me is quite enough....I could not cope with two, three or four of me....and Mr P certainly couldn't...lol

After a week of icy rain and chilling winds, spring came back today.....and the bees joined me....pop over (you or one of your other selves) when you have a mo......

    ReplyDelete
  27. Perish the thought! One of me is enough for one universe. After reading a book about a guy meeting himself in parallel universes and not getting along too well, I can easily imagine all the "me"s wanting to do only the good stuff - blog & garden. Then the real me would get stuck with the laundry.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It was cold here over the weekend. But it's warmer today. If I am cloned, I want the other one to not have an aching back and all the other little maladies that hit us when we're boomers.

  30. Life at times feels like a juggling act. - Love the picture of the viola - BEAUTIFUL!

  31. hee hee Gail. How great is this idea? I love the thought! I've even wished we could go into warp speed for an hour ~ I bet a lot could get done that way too. Every day I sort thru the "what needs to get done" and the "what I want to do" piles making choices. Sometimes smart ones, sometimes not. The call to play can win out over chores at times it shouldn't. Enjoyable blooms to go along with the many sides of you.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Kathleen, I was thumbing through a new garden magazine when I came across an article about taking care of bulbs after they bloom~~ we have to feed them! Another chore to the list! Glad you liked the blooms! gail

  33. Darla, It sure is an interesting spring...let's hope it's a little rain and nothing else!

Patsi, isn't the Viola wonderful! I read that it is a long season bloomer and I hope so...I hope to be able to keep it going out there for awhile...I am glad you liked the post...and stopped by

Janet, The tulips came in a bag from Costco and I forgot to keep their names! So I've taken to calling hem all Costco Pink. Imagine a housekeeper...now that is a wonderful fantasy!

OFB, We had a tiny bit of hail and it was unnerving...I can't imagine the big stuff like you got and they had in TX! This is one strange weather system...where we in a movie it might portend change!

Les, Ah, but the other you could go to work and you could garden~

Cameron, I imagine you are much happier now having let go of the pressure. No one would ever accuse me of being a Type A personality...I have too strong a play ethic!

  34. Racquel, This is really the magical time in our middle south gardens...things are popping open every few seconds....your, too!

Randy, You never know...If given the chance I am not sure Mr I would want another me to deal with either!

Rose, You are quite the kindest woman I know...we need a dozen more yous and one of them can love housekeeping and be organized, but the rest are the wonderful sweet you!

  35. Joy, I like that a Calm Gail! Renovations are enough to try the calmest soul! Weren't you glad they came and aren't you looking forward to them leaving! Mr I just brought me 3 wonderful hi cocoa content candy bars...rationing is in order!

Dave, One more of you and your garden would be filled with propagated plants, a fantastic vegetable garden and who knows what else! We can dream!

Monica, Grape hyacinths are way cool looking; so many flowers look incredible when you get very close to their faces...

womanandflowers, Smoking hot washing machine...Wow. I love this new one we have now...a top loader and so is the dryer...no bending and hurting the back!

Lisa, I have to laugh...there is no way you are a slug...you do a lot!

Marnie, That's the spirit! No back talk from the clones!

  36. Phillip, I do hate appliance problems...we decided to bite the bullet and replace the dryer, too. ...It was beginning to lose some functions, but it did dry the clothes....I surely would have preferred to spend the money in the garden!

Sherri, Yes it is a juggling act! I love the viola too...such an unusual color.

Ter, I can't wait to see you but you don't have to clean! xxoo

  37. Frances, Thank you! I like funny gail, too!
She makes me smile...some chores just don't get done...but right now the laundry is happening. The new machine is cooking!

Lythrum, You are so right! Some things are more important then others! I am glad you like the photos...I love spring!

Beckie, Add achy and we have the same clone selves...grumpy, forgetful, procrastinator and weary!

  38. You seem to do justice of each role, Gail. Of course, as you say, if only the hours in a day were more (how much is more, btw?). Have a great day! Awesome photos - love the redbud with blue sky.

  39. Lovely post, and I would like to invite all of the Gails to a good dinner party, we definitely would have a good laugh!

Some awsome colours in there, by the way.

    Take care.

  40. As I sit here catching up on other garden blogs, having just posted to my own, I'm longing to be outside working. I really need to make a run to the nursery down the street, too, to see if they have the Muhly Grass I want. And I still haven't learned my way around my new cell phone. And ... and ... and ...

Can you tell your post resonated with me????!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. That would be so nice! Except poor husband would be so worn out trying to figure out which one is which! 50 degrees today here in Maine. Woo hoo!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I sure understand and wish I could clone myself as well! I've been so busy gardening and working on getting our farmers market going this season that I haven't had much time to blog, much less look at as many blogs as I'd like to. Gorgeous blooms, btw!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm sure the extra me's would end up doing as little as I currently do. Furthermore, they would drive SomeBeans bananas. Great post though!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ah yes, we often think that if only we could accomplish everything we wish that we would be truly happy! March is going out like a lamb here, no ferocious weather to report. The snow missed us, as a matter of fact it was much dryer than usual. We had lots of warm weather in March, and I've already worn my sandals several times. This is not the norm, so I've been enjoying it! It was almost frosty this morning, but it warms up throughout the day, so I'll take it.

  45. good evening gail,

i totally could use a few more me's. i probably wouldn't know what to do with myself. i have to say dh helps me so much, thank goodness. i don't know how i did it when all the kids were at home. it wears me out to just think about it. any way sie la vie, it is the way it is. i feel like i am always shifting my priorities to get it right.
love your images today. just gorgeous. that viola etain amazing.

  48. I feel your pain Gail - just not enough hours in the day! When my girls were small, after I returned to work, I used to tell their dad we needed a wife!

I need another me to help plan SF, so if you figure out how to make more yous, I love to know the secret!

  50. Dear Gail,
I've been taking a blogging break this week so this really touches a nerve. (I could have sworn I commented on this one already. Oh, maybe it was Blogger or maybe it was just me.)

It is VERY difficult to garden, housekeep, take care of family, enjoy hobbies... AND blog at times. You said it better than I could... if only we could multiply ourselves... even more than we already do. Balance is the key.

  51. Gail, this post touches all of us...and I must say, most of my days are spent with a huge load of Guilt hanging over my head. Now how unhealthy is that? Every time I sit here on the computer, leaving comments, or even worse, NOT leaving comments...I carry a heavy burden with me. I know I need to let go of guilt, but having met so many wonderful people through blogging, I still feel like I'm not keeping up with each person as I 'should'! Ahh, 'should' shouldn't be in my vocabulary! Yet, I operate exactly the way I used to help my clients overcome!! My house is a mess, I haven't put away baskets of laundry, groceries need to be bought in large quantities to fill up the fridge and pantry since I've waited so long to get them, Oh I need so many more Jan's it's incredible! It would be the LIFE if that could happen. Each one would have tasks, and one of them, (ME), would have the luxury of sitting around, relaxing in the sun with a cold drink, playing on the computer or doing whatever I want and NOT feeling guilty for doing it!!! I think I just need to spend more time actually DOING my chores, and THEN come back to the computer! I KNOW the answer in my head: JUST DO IT!! Now, can someone PLEASE come here and get me started??!!!
Well, thanks for this therapeutic opportunity, Gail. I have just written myself into a very motivated state of mind. You are the LAST person I'm leaving a comment for, right now. I am going to go do all those chores! Yay. Thanks for the motivation!!!

This weekend, when we are bringing 2 palates of field stone in, I am seriously looking at your photos and planning an area like yours, kind of separating part of my yard into just a wildflower area...and then making the area that's closer to the house into more of a usuable area, with some sod, as well as some paths and some more garden areas.

Oh--by the way, I have a 'give-away' going on right now. You should stop by and see if you're interested;-)

  52. I loved this. I definitely need domestic Dee. Where oh where is she? Add to that mother Dee who is always there for her children. BTW, if you switch to Wordpress, you can easily control the size of photos. Get blogger Gail on that right away. Hee-hee.~~Dee

  53. Oh, Gail,
I started to skim this, but had to start over and read it word for word. I feel just like you do! Thanks for the laugh! If you're like me, you also need another Gail to read all those gardening and other books you bring home from garage sales and used book stores.
