Sometimes You Have To Step Away To See...

While I was away this weekend I had to use my husband's laptop. Visiting my own blog was an eye opener....I wanted to post a response to a comment and there it was!
Quel surprise. The letter verification feature was turned on. When you're on another computer and not signed in to blogger you get to experience what others experience!

The issue for me isn't one of thinking verification is bad....I don't think that...I'm surprised because I didn't know I had it turned on. Apparently there are some details that got over looked. Have I shared with you that I am not a detail person?

Blogging sure keeps me on my toes. I learn new things everyday, meet new people and have a great time.

Oh, I decided to turn off verification. Just because. Is there anything else I need to see?

  1. Gail, the same thing happened to me when I had to use another computer. It took awhile to get up the nerve to turn it off, afraid of waves of spam, but it hasn't happened, only the occasional ad thing, like come see my new bench, just delete or reject it. I have trouble with those letters sometimes, not the best vision here, and sometimes have to do it several times to get posted. Good to see from the other person' point of view. Glad you turned it off. Thanks.

  2. LOL! You learn something new every day, don't you? I actually turned mine on because I was getting spam. I've been thinking about turning it back off again though, it really IS a pain....

  7. Jean,

I am glad it's gone, too! I just hadn't realized it was there. Sorry if it was a pain.

  9. Tina,
No more spinach in the teeth! How's it going with your new blog site? How is it interfacing with the Leaf Chronicle?

  10. the new site is weird. the comments are not showing up on the leaf's old website but yet they are there. can't figure it out at all. their new website has a blog i put on it but i don't know how i will work the two. they are fine to work with but the platform is scaled WAY down and a few other things. we'll see how it works. the good news is now i can link to others and blog roll (once i can get on here and get away from jury duty!:)

  12. I really dislike the word verification, but it seems every time I turn it off, I get bombed with spam of some sort...which isn't bad if confined to one post, but sometimes they propagate through a whole month's worth. I think I'll try it off again and see what happens. Maybe I'm a spam magnet. :)

I am sure they will find me, too...we'll see. SIGH.

  14. i think i may be in nashville this friday, not including tonight's school. i am told cheekwood's annual plant sale is friday and saturday. geri and i may attend. have you heard of it before?

the leaf completely dropped my old blog. they even changed my name on my account to "null". they might be upset i switched my blog to blogspot, though i don't see the problem. it isn't like bloggers are paid, i was a volunteer! the new website works fine for me. i must say, without the leaf, i never would've gotten into blogging, but now that i have, i enjoy it alot. i am learning so much from others like you!

  17. shady,

A hard question to answer, she is better now but for a few days she was having a very hard time. The heart medication was too strong and it wore her out. I have hope that she is going to get better now.

I really appreciate your asking, I am touched,

  18. Tina,

It is at Cheekwood, go past the Botanical Hall around to the mansion and keep going! There will be a tent and lots of people. They accept checks and cash. Also, they often have other merchants with garden goodies....They usuallytake credit cards, if that gives you an idea of how expensive the goodies are! I always have several checks with me because I go back after the first visit and buy more, sometimes I don't even get out the gate before i remember what I wanted to get that i forgot on my first trip through the tent. 10 am. I go a little early but I am nuts about wildflowers. Plants are between $3 and $8...special ones maybe $10....shrubs and trees a bit more (they have a few).

  20. We all live and learn Gail. I'm no computer expert either and just make it up as I go along. I learn something new about computers every week. The verification thingy is a pain but I had to put it on again after being hit by a blog spammer who put 20 spam messages in the comments of one of my posts recently.

    BTW great pic of daffodils!

  21. yolanda elizabet,

Hopefully spammers won't bother with my little blog!

I have made a game out of filling out the verifications...playing a little word jumble! What does that spell? Or trying to pronounce it!

    Have a lovely day/evening?
