Make sure it's a cool Autumn morning.
That's when the light is best.
That's when the flowers shine.
That's when the purple chairs are their deepest velvet color and not washed out by the harsh afternoon light.
If you stop by early you'll see an early blooming ex-aster as it drapes across the garden
and, we'll have coffee as we wait for the first sleeping bumbles to awake.

Beautiful! I enjoyed a cup of coffee and your garden with you Gail~ thanks for the morning tour! The light is stunning! This is my favorite time in the garden too. When things are just starting to wake up and it is quiet and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteGood gracious! I can't imagine there's any moment when it isn't good to visit your garden!
ReplyDeleteIt is so inviting, dear Gail, I would love to be there on your porch in that perfect morning light. The asters are having a banner year, aren't they?

I'm there with you right now. It's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I bet there is not a great time to be in your garden. So beautiful in that lighting though.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm loving those purple chairs!! And there's definitely nothing like a cool crisp morning! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful and peaceful...just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm not the only one with morning shade and harsh afternoon sun--yay! Of course, all the books only ever talk about morning sun, lol. :) Love the last photo, esp. I like photos where you want to pet a bee!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and peaceful. There is something about the autumn light that is almost mystical. As Edward Hirsch writes in his poem "Fall":
ReplyDeleteWhen we pause in the middle of a long walk home and
Suddenly feel something invisible and weightless
Touching our shoulders, sweeping down from the air
It is the autumn wind pressing against our bodies;
It is the changing light of fall falling on us.
I had a lovely visit! Your autumn garden is beautiful, peaceful, and full of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm packing my bag and booking my flight right now. I want to sit on your purple chairs, drink coffee and watch the bees buzz around the asters
ReplyDeleteI am sure your garden looks beautiful any time one is in it. We do all have times that seem perfect though. Love your little bumbles and bees.
ReplyDeleteHelen, You are welcome anytime.
ReplyDeleteLisa, You are more then kind.
Monica, Wouldn't morning sun be wonderful!
Sage Butterfly, Thank you.

Beautiful garden! I particularly love the Mist Flower. One of my favorite fall wildflowers here.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I was just thinking that autumn gardens are best in the late afternoon, when the ex-asters are all open and the world is golden. If we had teleporters, we could have morning coffee in your garden & afternoon tea in mine.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely place to greet the day! How marvelous the asters look in the morning light!
ReplyDeleteIf only I lived a little closer! Your photos show what a beautiful garden you have in your corner of paradise. I can see myself spending an hour or two resting on those seats!
ReplyDeleteHaving been lucky enough to actually visit your garden one autumn morning, I agree that it's beautiful then! As I remember, when I invited myself over, the bees were already awake and busily sipping nectar everywhere. But I think your garden looks beautiful any time of day!
ReplyDeleteSo nice. Thank you for opening your garden to us.
ReplyDeleteI'll be right over! We'll wipe the dew off the chairs and sit and visit in your lovely garden.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and peaceful way to start the day that would be ...
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHi Gail,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely huge photos. I love seeing the details on the bees and blooms. I would love to sit on those chairs for awhile.
Have a great day! I hope we are going to get some much needed rain today.
I just used the word "love" 3 times. I guess I love to use that word, and I do love your place!
ReplyDeleteSue, Love it! gail
ReplyDeleteThe beloved purple chairs, they always make me swoon.

Hi Gail
ReplyDeleteI have to say I think your garden looks beautiful in all light.
I love it's wild nature, and of course, it is always a delight to see the bees working amongst the flowers.
I will skip coffee if you don't mind, I would love just to have a nosey around :0)
Loving those asters, wow what a show.
ReplyDeleteEarly morning is quite around here except for the birds and bees...just the way it sould be.
Great bumble shots !
Oh, to be able to visit in the light of early morning, coffee cup in hand, would be a treat indeed. Someday.
