Muse Day: June

Gaura lindheimeri 'Siskiyou Pink' with Hoverfly

It's beautiful the Summer month of June
When all of God's own wildflowers are in bloom
And sun shines brightly most part of the day
And butterflies o'er lush green meadows play.

Asian Day Flower with Hoverfly

Light hearted skylark songster of the wing
High o'er the quiet and lonely moorland sing
Above her nest cloaked by the tangled heath
Her charming song so exquisitely sweet.

Practically Perfect Pink Phlox

So mellow the gentle breath of june day breeze
The birds rejoicing on the leafy trees
And dappled trout in pool bed of the stream
Bask in the sun their spotted skins agleam.

  2. Hi Gail, Happy Muse Day to you, too! Your PPPP (I mean, the one in my garden) is looking fetching next to a yellow-blooming sedum, whose hude matches the purple!

  7. June will be beautiful but it also looks like it will be wet and humid! I'm wondering if we'll have one day without rain!

  8. Love the poem, Gail! June is my favorite month, and you've captured it perfectly here with all the little creatures that have arrived to play this summer. And, of course, Miss PPPP:)

I've seen several posts recently from bloggers all over the country showing off their PPPP. Maybe we should have a blog day celebrating PPPP?

  14. I'm impressed with how your Hoverfly is "hovering" over the Asian Day Flower.

I've never before thought about a June breeze being like a gentle breath, but now I will and it'll make me think of you and your Muse Day post.

  19. Good morning, Gail. What a pretty poem. Sometimes I like to get very Victorian and sit in the garden with a book of poetry. Of course by June the mosquitoes are so bad out there, they take away a lot of the romance:)

The Asian dayflowers are pesky weeds in my garden. I'm always mistaking them for lilies until they bloom.

  20. That pink phlox truly is practically perfect. And, I'm seeing it growing elsewhere around the blogosphere which makes it extra special. :)

  23. A lovely ode to June indeed. I hope we keep getting rain to make it even more special. A note on the Asiatic daylily. I am trying to eradicate them here. Do you know those babies self seeded everywhere? Urgh!
