  15. What a wonderful photo.

The English garden has alway been my ideal. It took me years to realize I couldn't have one in northern Illinois but that doesn't mean I gave up thinking about them.

  17. It was amazing, wasn't it? Your photo is an excellent representation of how it looked, like something out of a period movie. Even with the weather, which somehow was appropriate, we did have the most fabulous experience together. So glad to have shared it with you, my dear friend. :-)
    xo,

ps, loved what Victoria said about our voices. I still hear her lilting accent in my mind.

  30. Hi Gail. The PPP you sent me has buds! I was so afraid I'd planted it in too much shade. I still might move it into a full sun spot.

Your penstemon are beautiful. I planted two Red Huskers last year and neither survived the winter. Can't understand what went wrong. Maybe the soil was just too full of organics and stayed a little too wet. I do plan to add more this year.

I remember those pink oenothera from when I lived in Alabama. They grew happily in cement and gravel along the highways. I added one oenothera last year. It hasn't bloomed yet, hope it is pink instead of yellow.

  32. That photo - it IS England.

    Esther

P.S. I mean, there are more aspects to England than that and I expect I would be considered very narrow minded if I were to say, as I do, that for me, that IS England - but I can even smell that photo, it is so accurate.
