  2. It is good that you could get away, even if it is just in your head.

  3. I like the first photo better! I'll like it even more tomorrow when it's 22 outside!

  4. LOL, Gail, I'm having the same feelings! The ground is covered with snow here, and the temperature is dropping. A day at a warm beach sounds heavenly. But maybe I'll just take a nap under a thick layer of blankets this afternoon:)

  5. Hey, I recognize that beach, what a dream!

Stay warm and hunker down. I am out to look for frostcloth!

  8. Les,

Are you and your garden ready for this insanely cold weather? I wish I had a lot of old blankets...I suspect I will lose my Texas Salvias!

  10. Rose,

I say let's all go to the beach! Where shall we meet?
Florida makes the most sense. MIami! Or Tampa to see meems! Dreaming is good. Keep warm and cozy under that blanket, I hope it's a nice down comforter. Gail

  14. Hi Gail, I think for us on the northern hemisphere the hole month of January is a 'dream, hope and waiting' period.

  15. Randy,

So true...I know February will bring the early Little Bulbs! You hang in there, too!

  16. Tyra,

It seems the longest month of the year doesn't it? Right on schedule the cold blast of arctic air heads this way...How is it that we are all still surprised by its presence! Keep warm and enjoy sowing your seeds!

  17. Good morning Gail! That beach scene is VERY inviting, and today's a perfect day for dreaming.

We're expecting subzero temps the next couple of days at least, with another day of snow today. I'm dreading getting out there with the snowblower. Your reality looks pretty good from where I sit!

  18. For a moment there I had an overwhelming sense of envy. I thought you were somewhere on a beach;) Then I reread and realized it was a dream. What a beautiful beach, I could get lost in that dream too.

  19. Gardengirl,

Subzero is too cold for me...we are expecting 2 dgrees as a lo tomorrow. This is all wrong for my zone 7 garden; especially with no snow cover on the ground.

I still think we all should head to Florida! Keep warm Linda and safe.

  20. Marnie,

I would so like to be walking on the beach. A warm beach. Folly will be cold today. If we are having 2 degree weather you must be having very cold weather!
    Keep warm up there.

  30. Lovely compare and contrast photos!

My husband keeps bringing up the fact that airfares to Hawaii are low right now. Not low enough for me unless someone can tell me where all the flowers are right now! :-)

  31. Reality bites. The first photo is the stuff of my dreams too. Aaahhh, for a lovely warm day without the bulky hinderance of coats, scarves, gloves, etc.

  32. At this time of year it seems that all we have are dreams. Thanks for sharing yours with us, I can feel the warm water lapping at my bare toes and the soft sand squishing between my toes. How heavenly if even for just a moment.

  33. Love it! The wind is picking up now, it won't be long and the temps will be dropping. Bundle up. I was outside wrapping my 'marginal' gardenia yesterday. My friend from school brought it to me with the info it was supposed to be hardy. Hmmm, not looking too good now. Gee, wonder if I could put a heat lamp on it? I think I'll dig it. Hmmm, just thinking out loud here and I just solved my problem-thanks to you! Hope to see you Tuesday night!

  36. Tina,

Glad to help you out! I look around the garden and am thankful that I left all the leaves in the garden beds...they may insulate the ground a little! But I am saying goodbye to my rosemary plants which are in the ground. This is not fun!

    Gail

  37. cinj,

Wouldn't it be lovely to be there today. Let's just blink our eyes and dream ourselves there...I hope you are keeping warm! It is good to visit with you Cindy! gail

  38. Kathleen,

Bulky and heavy! If you go out there is all that keeping up with hat, scarf and gloves! Let's all go to the beach! Well, then there is all that keeping up with hat, sunglasses and flip flops! Keep warm!

  40. Lisa,

I did...it was a rather interesting one for sure but looking at the photos makes me happy, too. Is it really cold now? We are expecting the blast to make its way here! Yikes. I am ready for spring.

  41. Can I dream of sitting on your waiting bench, with the drone of bees in the background, perhaps the trickle of a nearby brook, the warm sun on my face? Please? :-)

  42. Dear Nancy,

Anytime you want! You are always welcome! Can I stop by with my snowshoes...I never get to wear them here!

  43. Ok, let's do no.1. When are we going?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hi Gail,
Nice to dream, but I'd be just as happy with a nice green space filled with blooming flowers and butterflies ... instead of our nightmare outside the windows here.

Get ready for that arctic blast hon, because it's nasty. The high here today was +2 and currently it's -11F and headed down to -20F tonight. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be -4F ...thus the nightmare talk, lol. Add in 15" of snow since last Friday (plus what was on the ground already) and it all makes for one grumpy, depressed gardener! :-)

    Opening another bottle of whine....

  45. Gail, just crossing toes and fingers and that is about all I can do. All in the hands of higher beings now....

  46. Beautiful! I want to go to your beach there.

  47. Sue,

    It's a great beach...Folly Beach SC.
It would be cold right now!

  48. IVG,,

It is too darned cold already, we don't need no stinkin winter weather!

Green spaces with flowers would be very nice!

Take care! Keep warm and safe.
