It's True, I am Officially a Garden Nerd

I swore I never would but, I actually bought a garden fanny pack (nerd alert).

I have a good excuse. I once again misplaced my favorite hand pruners. I ran all over the garden and they were not hiding in plain sight like they usually do. I knew that they would show up and with them my miraculously restored memory..."Oh, there they are, I remember putting them there when I was moving that daffodil".**

But, spring is springing and there is a lot of work to do. I needed to replace them and since I am addicted (another nerd red flag) to a particular hand pruner that is not available anyplace in town. I had to go to the internet (red flag).

This particular online big box store has an interesting marketing ploy. Once you place your choice in the cart, they like to tempt you with similar items that others have also bought.

Well, dangle a good looking carrot in front of me and I will bite! I can promise you that this object would never have looked attractive to me before. But, since my mom's illness, I now carry a cell phone and the house phone outside. I didn't want to lose them, too.

So I ordered the pruners and the fanny pack. I am thinking about wearing it to the garden centers. Do you think people will think I am a nerd?

  2. Tina you are so right...I wonder where I will take this off and lose it...but I could call my cell phone and find it!

The cell phone takes away from my escaping to the garden!

  3. Considering the get ups that are worn to work in the garden, the fanny pack is an improvement. It's all function and no fashion out there. I have dropped my cell phone in the dirt so many times it is a wonder it works at all. I have quit taking it out there lately, but like your situation, something might come up where it would be needed. Your selection looks good to me.

  5. Heck NO! Do you know how many times I've lost my favorite garden pruners? One time I lost them for over a week (apparently they were somehow placed under a giant rhubarb leaf???). I was going crazy without them!

I'm thinking about buying one like it, but that fits on a 5 gallon pail instead. My fat rolls would make the one around my waist uncomfortable. I usually carry out a large pail to put all of the weeds I pull into so I don't have to make so many trips!

  6. I don't see why not it has an adjustable belt. Don't they sell a cushion plus pocket thingy that sits on one of those 5 gallon buckets?
    That might make sense.

  7. Gail I think your attire is very approbate. I have trouble finding things that I have had working with. Of course I always find it later.

  8. lola,

And this is what I look like on a good day...I have knee less jeans that I often garden in....even though I do need to protect myself from poison ivy!

    Glad you stopped by.

  9. Welcome to the club. I have a clip on holster that I use to keep my favorite pruners close by my side at all times, and another clip on phone holder that goes on my back pocket. I'm sure I'm a sight to see out there in my garden!

  10. Carol,
I was always a garden nerd now I have the uniform. Has anyone suggested we post photos of ourselves in our favorite garden clothes?

Shall we all really take pics of ourselves in our garden clothes? You should do a post about it.

  12. Lovely fanny pack. The only thing that could be better is if you modeled it yourself!

I see your name on the guest list for Spring Fling. I look forward to meeting you!

  13. I wish I was going to the spring fling!! Maybe next year. I have to have that fanny pack!! It is so practical. I have an apron I made from an old pair of painter pants. But this is so much better. I wish I had it to take to work with me tomorrow. It's my first day back at work--I'm going to die!!

Hey==while I'm here..just wanted to say that you flowers are beautiful for bloom day. If I wasn't going back to work, I'd join the bloom day. I also like your heart from your walk today. It looks like a caladium leaf..lol.

  14. Oooh, I love your fanny pack and I really need one. Where did you get yours?

(And I'm going to call it a holster, not a fanny pack, since that's how I roll!)
