(I posted on Torenia tonight.) These "powderpuff" ones are great favorites because they self-seed profligately and are always a welcome "pop" in the garden, even if they get a bit numerous. But when they're done, they're done, and we just yank the declining plants and send them to the compost.

Btw, we now have a thriving patch of pumpkins going by the compost pile, a result of having relegated last year's uncarved Halloween pumpkins to the compost. It will be interesting to see if we actually get some from it!Iowa Victory Gardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07220818462081082930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3093185160483906357.post-39249300638856894342008-06-26T06:14:00.000-05:002008-06-26T06:14:00.000-05:00IowaGardener,I hope you have a photo or two...that...IowaGardener,

I hope you have a photo or two...that would be a lovely sight to see. I love those big pink puffs! Here in the midsouth...we had our big pop in May, some in June.

Rain, we could use some, but earlier this year, I was complaining when it smashed the peonies to the ground!

GailGailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16194325535496408116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3093185160483906357.post-58134670581766824482008-06-26T00:46:00.000-05:002008-06-26T00:46:00.000-05:00Hi Gail,Great shot of the poppy! Unfortunately, they chose to bloom at the height of all those rains and storms we had recently, and only lasted about a day or so before they were pummeled into nakedness.

On the brighter side, our heirloom hand me down pink powderpuff poppies are just now springing into bloom. They'll be appearing soon at my place, along with so much else that all of a sudden is popping! I always forget how jam packed late June and early July are in our gardens!Iowa Victory Gardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07220818462081082930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3093185160483906357.post-68872358096932173212008-06-25T21:23:00.000-05:002008-06-25T21:23:00.000-05:00meems,Thank you...I love that word...capture...it ...meems,

Thank you...I love that word...capture...it sounds so assertive and in charge!
