Mainly I want something that will grow well, be beautiful (that doesn't necessarily mean flowers), and provide nourishment and shelter for wildlife. I let pokeweed grow for "greens" in spring and birds like the berries (but I think are poisonous for humans). <br /><br />The Yellow (Actinomeris alternifolia) crown beard we call wingstem is also an important nectar source for honey bees in September. Any pasture will have them.
