Buffa10~The Garden Bloggers and Those Gardens!

I was wowed with this planting
of monarda and lilies

Since those early days of blogging and
my first Garden Blogger Spring Fling in Austin
blogging has been as much about the community
as it has been about sharing my garden thoughts and observations.Meems/Hoe and Shovel and Helen/Toronto Gardens chatting.
Isn't her hat wonderful!

And there was plenty of both at Buffa10~
Kylee/Our Little Acre and Dee/Red Dirt Ramblings

Starting with appetizers at Elizabeth's,
the gardens in her neighborhood,
Some of the gang at the Twentieth Century Club

delicious meals,
walks to and from
the neighborhood garden sites
and traveling on the bus
We were good little 'do-bees' and lined up to get on the bus!

Gave us plenty of time to discuss the gardens,
catch up with one another,
meet new people and
talk, talk, talk about plants,
designs and everything in between!

I felt like I was in an English garden

It was a joy filled weekend for me!
Relaxing, yet invigorating.
My spirit was renewed and
my head is filled with marvelous ideas!

The long view is just as spectacular!

The conversations were wonderful.
Not once did any one's
eyes glaze over!
Don't you love and
appreciate plant geeks!

Had it not been raining
we would have been sitting to chat

I'm not sure how I can thank
Elizabeth and Jim
for the absolutely perfect weekend.
It was all delightful.

Buffalo's idea of a 'hell-strip'

The Gardens~

The friends~

Even a little rain couldn't dampen our spirits!

I hope that by sharing these photos
you’ll get a taste of the experience
and attend the next Garden Blogger Fling!

Where ever it will be held!

  2. Wonderful photos Gail! I'm so enjoying everyone's photos...it was impossible to record everything so this way we can revisit even more memories. I'm already hoping to make it to Seattle!

  3. It was just about perfect. I only wish I could have had more time to talk more with everyone. It was such a delight to meet new people, some of whom I knew nothing about, and even more enjoyable to spend time with good friends like you!

  4. Sounds like you had fun! Is it just me or does Frances' hair look different every time I see a photo of her? ;-) Love the Ligularia!

  6. Dear Gail, don't you agree that these get togethers just keep getting better and better? To meet up with friends and meet new ones in garden settings is the very best way to spend a weekend, rain or shine or sweat pouring down one's back. Thank you so much for showing me while chewing. At least my mouth was closed, like a good southern belle. HA Funny too is that we both took photos of Kylee and Dee and showed them, out of all the photos we could have used. Once again, you are the perfect travel companion. :-)

  7. An unforgettable time was had by all. It was sheer delight to meet virtual friends like you in real life and to find that they are just as delightful in person as they are online... if not more so. And what a great garden city Buffalo is! It was a revelation.

  8. Looks like a wonderful weekend, Gail! Since I couldn't attend, I'm enjoying each and every post about this year's gathering, and it's fun to see so many familiar faces among the photos. Those gardens looks spectacular! Frances also had a long shot of the garden with the tall building in the background--for a moment I thought you all had gone back to Sissinghurst:)

I hope there was talk about organizing another Fling for next year--as long as it doesn't fall on the weekend of Daughter's wedding, I'll be there!

  25. Gail, It was so good to see you again and I'm so glad to be among those who might see you again in between now and Seattle! I love the array of pics and sentiment on this post - and love that we both posted almost the same picture! (I bet that will keep happening...)

  26. Gail,
It was such a delight to meet you in person, and getting to know others whom I knew a bit through their blogs and even more who I hadn't known before -- what fun. Definitely an energizing and joy-full time.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next one!

    A lovely post,
    Lisa

  28. You have a knack for summing up big events, Gail. I love your people pics especially. It was great to see you again, and I look forward to an Austin visit this fall.

  30. I wish I could have been there. Maybe next year!

  31. Looks wonderful Gail! Everyone looks like they had a great time. I missed seeing you. I'm so happy it brought joy to you and renewed your spirit. I hoped it would.

This year I had to put business first, especially after taking so much time away last year to work on Chicago's event. The death of my friend Meg has led to a huge increase in business for me. It's very weird to benefit in this way from such a tragic loss. The only way to deal with this is by comforting myself knowing she would have wanted me to take care of her beloved clients.

And yep, I agree with Lisa - Frances is beautiful with her new look.

  32. I'm glad you had a great time, just what you needed I think! Someday it would be nice to tag along on one of those trips. Maybe one day it will be a little closer to home! With three little ones now I doubt I'll have an opportunity to attend for a while.

  33. Thank you, Gail, for sharing your beautiful photos and summarizing the fun for us. It sounds like such fun. So good to see the people pics and those gardens look wonderful. I love the lily/monarda combination too. Some of mine are next to monarda, but those 2 colors are perfect together. Glad you all had such fun. Only wish I could've been there!

  34. Wow, those gardens are beautiful and it sounds like you had a marvelous time! Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos.

  35. Nicely done! Like a memory album for all of us. And I agree with Robin. Can't believe we have to wait a whole year.

  36. You asked about queen of the prairie--I do no extra watering other than when planting/transplanting in my garden (well, unless there's been no rain in yonks), and on top of that, the qotp is very near very large dogwood roots--so dry is fine. But full sun is key. I have another one in a wetter, less sunny location, same age, and it hasn't bloomed yet.

  37. I absolutely love being able to put faces to names. And I recognized almost everyone's name. Tooo cool.

Sounds like you had a great time.

  38. Well, I'm just saying, Anyone who was not here for Buffa10 can certainly consider coming for Garden Walk.

In any case, I do feel Gail's photos capture the events beautifully. So great to see you, as always.

  39. Gail, what lovely photos. I love transporting myself back to that wonderful weekend through your post and others'. I hope I can get more than one post on Buffa10 done!

  40. I hope someday I can attend one of these get togethers Gail! It looks like so much fun and the gardens are fabulous. I love the monarda & lily combination too and the ligularia is gorgeous as well. Glad you came home feeling better.

  41. Oooh, I just love your people pics! Though the gardens were beyond fabulous, the people we saw them with were the BEST. It was so good to see you again, Gail. We did't get to spend enough talk time though. :-( I think maybe Mom and I will have to take a Tennessee trip sometime and visit you and Francis and Barbara. We're actually going to be in Tennessee in September, but it's a big family get-together in Gatlinburg, otherwise, we'd try to meet up. We'll do it sometime!

    *hugs*

  42. You have really caught the atmosphere with your photos - it looks great fun. And better than that, unlike Malvern, it looks warm!

  43. Look at all that lovely monarda, and lovely friends! That hell strip is heavenly!

Larry and I went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina in 2007, and that's one of the only vacations we've taken in a number of years. We've thought about driving to see the west coast sometime, but I wanted to have the kitchen paid for first. It's tempting to think about going next year so I can attend the fling, though.

  44. Hi Gail, the photo of the wicker furniture setting was magazine worthy. Seriously!! What fun it must have been. Thank you for sharing.
