  4. Are those feet? I had forgotten what they looked like. So many things worth wishing for, too many to list here. But keeping it doable, I wish to be able to accomplish some outside garden chores today without freezing into numbness. Gotta keep moving! :-)

  6. I think I'm right with you in wishing for a February as warm as last year! I found in looking at pictures that the daffodils started blooming for me on the 11th of Feb. 2009. I doubt it will happen that early this year!

The guys at Malvern Show are going out of their way to make us feel really welcome.

  8. Wouldn't want to go outside barefoot right now, that's for sure... very cold feet and then end up flat on your ascot or your back.

I think the sun is trying to make an appearance though... hope it manages. There's nothing as beautiful in the winter as sunshine.

  9. I wish for more hours in the day... and for the energy to make use of them!

  10. YES!!!! (and I am wishing for the fairies to come and move all my stuff to SC or just wave a magic wand and be there!---I hate the process of moving, don't mind going to new places, but want to just 'be there'.

  17. I was noting to myself, as I walked along my path to the house yesterday how nice it was that I began this year having my guys dig the snow down to the grass... so as not to have icy paths that called for sand! I often think of those lucky people in warmer climates being able to walk on warm grass or better... beach sand this time of year! I do look forward to it too Gail! For now I have many projects inside that I hope to finish before the gardens awaken. February and March cold days are still ahead and I have no escape this year, so I will bear it and hope to accomplish what I cannot during the growing season. It helps being able to shop at winter farmer's markets and eat fresh pick greens! I love your photo! Your wish will come true long before mine!! I hope your hand is healing nicely! ;>))

  24. I definitely am not wishing for last February weather over here. I know with the Olympics and all, they want snow. But these warmer temps are quite fine with me. Last year, I think we had snow until August!

    LOL. Just Joking, I think.

  27. Spring is popping up here in the Texas Hill Country. My first daffodil bloomed on Feb. 1st and there is a green carpet of baby wildflower plants out front.

Loved your snowfall post and poem yesterday. Beautiful pictures. Enough to make a body wish for an occasional snow day.

  28. Hi Gail....I wish the rabbits would stop eating my plants and I could live in my own little paradise again......

  29. I wish it was time to start seedlings...that would at least be more springlike, even if the calendar didn't agree.

  30. I am glad to see you back blogging more, Gail, and commenting too. I know about the spammers...they're very bad today for some reason. All of them should be composted. I guess that would be my wish today...

  31. Our February last year was snowy and cold still. My wish is that we don't get a late freeze to damage the flowers that are now all thinking it's Spring here already.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ah, yes! If I stuck my bare toes out today, I'd get frost bite. It looks like you would too. What a gorgeous snowfall you've had below - stunning photos and lovely match of poem.

  33. Roses are red,
    Violets are blue,
    Gail flaunts her cute 'tootsies',
    Now ... how about you?

(Should we have a photo shoot on feet ... I remember Carolyn Gail's 'tootsie' post).

On second thought, checking out mine in flip-flops, might pass :)

  34. Rub it in! We just got snow last night, and more is coming the day after tomorrow! It'll be a while before I remove my wool socks...

  35. LOL!

I bought a box of 16 canna tubers at Sam's Club today. What does that tell you? Yep, I'm wishing for spring, too.

  37. Gail, should I be like Miss America and wish for 'World Peace'? :) Yes of course that, but a little warmer weather, some sun. and a pedicure like yours. Now that's not asking too much is it? :)

  38. I'm wishing for spring! I walked around the yard today and saw daffodils emerging from the frozen ground.

I'm not a barefoot kind of gal though, gotta always have shoes on! Spiders or dog poop, I don't want to step on either!

  39. Hi Gail, Mrs. Coldtoes, [me] would love to feel the grass under her feet but...maybe in July. LOL There's nothing wrong with wishing though is there?

    ReplyDelete
  40. That green grass and your toes was from last year at this time? Wow! Come to think of it, our lawn never really went dormant last year either. It did this year! I'm wishing for what you're wishing for - fair weather and springtime!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well, first of all, I wish my feet looked as good as yours:) Spring would be nice, but I know it's not going to come for awhile, so I wish for boundless energy and a younger body that doesn't ache after a few hours of garden work. And somebody to dig up 1/2 an acre of lawn for more garden space...

I think I'd have more luck just wishing for warmer weather:)

  42. Gail,
I wish for the soft green grass beneath my bare feet, and dirt under my fingernails from being so excited to get in the garden I didn't want to take the time to put on gloves. I wish for an early morning spent meandering through my favorite nursery and seeing it stuffed full of possibilities. I wish for sore legs from a day spent pruning, weeding, and planting.

  43. I wish for warm weather and bare feet in the grass. Today we've had a bit highér temperature, only 33 degrees but the snow began to melt - Yippie!

  44. Hi Gail, Cute tootsies! I'm hoping for all my little greenhouse seeds to sprout and grow by Spring. :-) I just put a few more jugs out and one of those jugs held some Tennessee Coneflower seeds that I still had from your last Winter's shipment!

  45. Oh! I am wishing that my power stays on in the coming snow storm.

  46. I'm wishing for a red cedar garden arbor (48" opening) covered with clematis and roses leading to my patio and visible from my kitchen window. Only $418 and a few growing seasons away. Thanks! Kelly

  47. Lord, just give me strength to get it all done!

  48. Wish I could be there in a warmer clime and help you to clean up. Though the path gets funky sometimes, we can usually find our way.

  49. Actually, believe it or not, I'm wishing for SNOW! It keeps missing us this year.

  50. Dear Gail, since you asked. . . I'm wishing for world peace, an end to hunger and greed, aid and comfort for those living through catastrophe, tragedy and heartbreak, and jobs and homes for those who want and need them.

Meantime, on a less global scale, I wish for your continuing recovery, for a happy, healthy granddaughter in a couple of weeks, and for an excellent outcome for the Lawn Man's upcoming surgery.

As for spring, I'm looking forward to it, and am confident it will arrive in it's own time without any input from me. ;)
