What Do Gardeners Do

when their computers are out of commision?

We admire annuals~~

We look at the light and the effect it has on

a newly planted grass.

 We imagine how
the light from the early morning sun  will make our favorite natives glow!

We plan projects~~
Like staining the fence to match the dark rich color of the new gate and birdhouse poles.

and wonder  where we shall put this water feature we found hiding in the way back backyard.

Wouldn't it look good

or Mr Cheeky Squirrel  visiting for a cool drink on a hot day?

There are so many things we can do when we aren't playing with our computers! What would you do?

Gail

May you all have a wonderful weekend  filled with plans for your gardens!

  2. In addition to working in the garden, I have visited the library & used their computers when mine was on the fritz. I hope you get your computer problems solved soon, but spring is probably the best time to be having them, when there's so much to do in the garden.

  3. I'd be doing the same thing - heading out to enjoy the garden!

Hope you're out enjoying the first day of spring Gail!

    Have a great weekend.

  6. Hi Gail, how about going plant shopping, or does that fit in with the designing and planning new beds? Spring has sprung and we have a frost warning for tonight! Typical.

  8. Dear Gail,
I like the choices you've made while your computer has been down... and I might say it hasn't deterred you too much from posting fantastic posts. I CAN tell you that last year when my computer died and I had not back up to use I got tons more done in the house and in the garden. Yeah... tons. Now that I have two computers (so that never happens again- wouldn't ever want to get that much done in two weeks again LOL) I have to MAKE myself turn them off for periods of time so I can get all the spring gardening done. Like right now. I came in from the garden for a drink and look where I landed. Just for a few minutes though... HA.
Anyway, loving all your new projects, plans, and successes!
    Happy Spring!!!! It's official.

  10. Great post, Gail! How is it that you do better posts without a computer than I do with one? No fair!!!

  11. LOL--I thought the answer would be that gardeners without a computer can actually GARDEN! ;-)

  13. I'd love to pet my newly acquired balls of joy (budgies) and pet my plants, watch the birds flying about...
Love your water feature, Gail. I'm sure your visitors would love it.

  14. Hi Gail, well I could get some house work done, but I won't. I could strip wallpaper, but I won't. I'll play outside.

You have a great weekend too.

  18. Gail,

Broken computer or working computer -- what gardener can stay inside if the sun is shining the temps are above 50? :-)

Hope you had a great day.

  19. Although my computer is working just fine ;), I will be out in the garden today planting my first shipment of mail-order plants that were delivered today. Which is perfect timing because it is supposed to rain like crazy the whole weekend where I am, so that will help them get nice and settled-in. The first bit of REAL gardening for me so far this year!

  20. Hi Gail girl ! YES ! there are a million and one things I should be doing some times when I am playing on the computer (forever hunting plants in the cyber world too !) I don't know .. is it me or are our days just that short ? .. then again .. I go to bed so early I can't even say (too embarrassing !) Spring is coming : )

  21. Gail, If we're not on the computer, then we're either outdoors in the garden, dreaming about gardening, working on garden/yard projects, and having a cup of tea in the garden (to which I'm really looking forward!) :-) If my list is at all descriptive of a gardener, YOU are one! Happy Spring!

  22. I would keep myself plenty busy and maybe it would be a nice break?? Have you thought that even for a moment?? Many days I think I spend WAY too much time on the computer! I would use the down time to visit the greenhouses (like Frances said) and plant spring bulbs, tend new seedlings, starting more seeds, get out my camera, etc., etc. I sure enjoyed your beautiful photos. That's a great water feature you found ~ the birds (and squirrels) will love it. Happy first day of spring Gail. Hope you have a nice weekend too.

  23. I stepped away from my computer for most of the day to start some seeds indoors and then to take advantage of the beautiful weather to finish cleaning up all the flowerbeds. Amazing what I can accomplish when I'm not on the computer half the morning:)

I love that birdbath--what a find in your back backyard!

  24. anxiety attack - the thought of my computer being down.
Note to self, back up computer tomorrow.
Another lovely post Gail, hope you have a great weekend.

  25. I'm with Karen -- I'd go off the deep end without my computer. Gives me fits just thinking about it. :) However, I don't have a yard to putter in -- when I did, I spent little time at the computer and may hours every week on the mower. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Gail - soon, even with a computer, you will be spending so much more time in the garden, doing! Love your photos of bits and pieces around the garden, especially the birdbath you found in the way back back!

  27. I would paint and write in my journal. Love your pictures Gail.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'd certainly get more done, but I wouldn't have nearly as much fun. Lovely post!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gosh, without a computer, I would probably get a lot accomplished like a clean house, perfect yard, great meals cooked by me, oh the list could go on and on but then I would miss my garden pals....

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm with Skeeter on that, I would probably get more done than usual. lol But then I would miss all of you in the process. Have a great day in the garden Gail!

  31. there are so many things to do at this time of the year it is hard to take time with the computer without feeling like i should be doing something else. but it is something i do enjoy and i love reading about what others are up to in their secret gardens. have a great day, i wish it would warm up a bit.

  32. Your photographs are beautiful ~ you've definitely found lots of wonderful things to see and to do. When my computer's out, I get back to reading more and rediscovering my pens and ink. At this time of the year, it's harder to be without a computer. My garden isn't visible yet.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi there Gail, oh dear fingers crossed your computer will be fully fit soon!

Mm... without mine, like Robin, I'd get so many other jobs done - many outstanding becasue of time spent on... the computer! I'd also get myself outside :-D

    ReplyDelete
  34. gail, thanks for the comment on my trellis! i love the photos here! very beautiful!

  35. My computer was in the shop for over a month one time and I was about to go stark raving mad. It can be scary how much I've grown to depend on it. At least we have a spare now.

    ReplyDelete
  36. So true, but you need a new computer my friend. I miss reading you all the time, and I know you miss us. LOL.~~Dee

  37. If my computers stopped working (there are 5 in the house!) then I would probably get out more. I could get a life!
The garden would look perfect - and then I might even do something in the house (lol).

    ReplyDelete
  38. Gail, on one hand it would be a treat - on the other, I'd be tearing my hair - not a good look. I'd take a lot more photos and I'd be going crazy because I couldn't download them. Do hope you are back up and at 'em soon!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would actually like to get more reading done. I think the computer has really taken more time away from reading than it has gardening.

  40. Urrrrr......that is awful that your puter is still in a medical facility. Do you need us to send money to help cover expenses for its release? I know people. Just let me know.

Wow--the fence looks great with those shrubs planted in front. Now did you remember that water feature? It's cute.

  41. Hi Gail,
Other than to post last night, I've hardly been on the computer at all this weekend ... we've been hard at work cleaning up the front beds and made a lot of progress (he says, 8 city compost bags full later!) and discovered lots of things coming up. Two glorious sunny warm days at last! Now it's off to a few days of rain and cooler temps now... that's spring!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I just love all your photos - they are so beautiful!

  43. I admire your ability to make technical glitches into posts! and I learned something about other people's tastes in and tactics for cameras in the post above. Hope these trials pass...
