She's Never Late To The Party!

People who know me would say I am never late to the party.   But, here I am after ignoring the RSVP, arriving at Stuart's party a little late.

You see, a few months ago when every one else switched their Feedburner to sync with Blotanical, I didn't! The invitation was on the desk and I had to pass on it. It was a sad time in my life and it seemed that I hadn't the energy for one more activity.

But Blotanical caught my eye again. It started out simply enough....a few visits, finding new bloggers and having fun. But there was something missing! It was me! There wasn't a link from Blotanical to my blog! HMM? Interesting...Oh, that was it! The Feedburner party!

"How do I get my feedburner up and running?" said I to Frances (Faire Garden). She knew what to do! We followed all the instructions, but ran into a snag. Help was needed! Enter Stuart! What a nice guy! He gave me clear instructions and then, offered to set it up if I couldn't. The instructions worked! Blotanical regulars could pop over to see me, What fun!

So Stuart, thank you! I have been having a ball. I have met new bloggers and have read their fantastic posts. It has been a delightful experience! It is easier then anyone can imagine to get involved and participate at Blotanical. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am totally hooked...there are bloggers I've yet to meet!

But there's one more thing Stuart.

Why Don't you hit me with your Fire Away!  (please click!)

  2. Hi Gail, way to go! Thanks for the link too. My friends and family are amazed that I am even blogging since I used to hate computers and know nothing about operating them. Your posts are so good that they deserve to be more widely read, and Blotanical is a way to get the word out there. I'll be looking for your red star now.

  3. Hi Gail! Isn't Blotanical a great place to be? I have met some wonderful bloggers. Great post today and I love the Pat Benatar video.

  4. Hi Gail! Although I had feedburner set up, I am new to the Blotanical Party. I don't know what I was thinking or not thinking. But I Love it and all the great blogs right at my fingertips.

  6. Frances,

If it weren't for you, I probably would be in the blogging dark ages! Thank you for your very kind compliment about my posts; they are mostly fun to write;) Can I relate to the 'used to hate computers', I don't know why I got so reactive to them, but once I found out about email I was hooked! A perfect way for my scattered friends to keep in contact.

Thank you, Frances for all your support, garden and otherwise!

  7. pgl,

Yes, it is a fun place...but it is causing more eye rolling from the spouse;-> He now refers to blogging as my other job! He cracks me up.

Glad you liked the video...if only I had talent I would have sung my new lyric, 'Hit me with your red star...and video taped it! It's not too late!

  10. Gail, great post and good to see that you're finally up with a Feedburner feed - now I just have to fix the problem with them loading at the moment! Lol.

Your RED STAR is on its way. Cute vid BTW.

  15. Hello Gail - I'm glad you were able to get the feed working. I was sorry to see some blogs not showing up on Blotanical that I had enjoyed in the past.

  16. Gail, I joined Blotanical last spring, but I must confess I've done little with it since then. I did check out the awards site after seeing this mentioned on Frances' blog, but obviously I need to take the time to check out all the other possibilities. A feedburner sounds beyond my technological capabilities:)

  17. I still have no idea how to work Blotanical, lol. But I am glad that Frances was able to help!

  18. amy,

At the time it seemed the easiest route and now, I am connected to some more really lovely bloggers~~

  19. Gail, what a smartie! I have yet to figure out the feed burners or botanical. I did get registered but that's about it. I am feeling like you did-it's more than I can keep up with at the moment. Hope you enjoy it though and I am sure you will get many new friends. Your's is such a great blog.

  20. Rose,

It wasn't as hard a task and if I can do it, anyone can. I am very technically challenged! You can get to most of your favorite bloggers from there.

  21. Beckie,

I always hold true to the old adage of making new friends but keeping the gold ones, too! You all are pure gold!

  22. Gail, I don't use Blotanical enough I guess. It is lots of fun when I can spend some time there. There are so many varied and useful blogs in one place. Stuart has done a great thing pulling us all together.

Is anyone else having trouble moving around Blotanical today? I think something has gone awry... my latest post from yesterday still isn't appearing in the blog list.

Anyway, fortunately not TOO late I suppose... you are going to get your red star for sure with your great post.

The OPEN sign is terrific... I'm thinking it would make such a great statement in your guest bath... :-)

  23. I don't have a feedburner either so maybe you'll inspire me. and even tho I joined Blotanical I haven't ever really figured it out. Like picks, I have no idea how one does that?! I think because I'm still on dial up and it takes so darn long for blogs, information, etc., to load I can't sit still long enough to learn. Congrats to you tho ~ you have a fabulous blog.

    ReplyDelete
  24. meems,

It's molasses slow...there's a hitch in the system and Stuart has posted that he is working on it! Not many Blogger members have had their latest posts published. When it's running smoothly, it's jumping off place to get to your regular blogs. The catch is that they all have to be members.

The open sign is wonderful and you are so right! It is perfect for Casa Cedar Glade! Atlas, I wouldn't be able to wrestle it away from the owner...Bobbie's Dairy Dip a local ice cream shop!

  25. kathleen,

Here's to inspiring you to have fun with Blotanical.

I am even MORE impressed with your posts, knowing that you have dial-up! You post great photos! The wait time for downloads and uploads must be a bother at times! Thanks for waiting, so we can enjoy your blog!

  26. DP,

If anyone can figure out how to use Blotanical, it is surely you! Your tech savvy generation grew up on computers in the classroom! Go for it!

  27. I'm so glad you got your feed problem fixed. I know it took quite a while to get mine fixed back when everyone else was also clamoring to get theirs fixed. I try to get over to Blotanical as often as I can, which hasn't been much lately. Maybe if it would rain once in a while around here I'd have an excuse. (I get the same eye rolling too!)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm completely unfamiliar with botanical. I'll have to check it out.

  29. As for blotanical: I came, I joined but I did not conquer. Maybe I should go back and try to figure it out.

  30. Hi Gail and everyone,
I had some vestigial knowledge of Blotanical, but I have no real clue so far as to what it's all about, but it sure sounds like the rest of you are having fun with it. Should I check it out when things calm down here a bit work wise? Warning though: if I do I may have to lean a bit on you at first, lol.

Oh, and the Chrysalis has been made at our place! Stop by to see how it's progressing ... looks like we're about to birth a Monarch later this week!

Do you think you may get some rain from the remnants of Gustav? I looked at national radar earlier today and it looked like it might spin some rain off your way ... hope you get some!

Oh, and you should have warned me that was Pat Benatar! LOL

  31. mmd,

I love blogging and it has been fun getting to know so many of you all better...I hope I have the time and discipline to keep all my activities in balance! I have had enough eye rolling for now! Rain would be a delightful experience!

  32. eve,

Right now it's broken for blogger users so you might want to wait until they figure out what is going on!

  33. IVG,

So sorry about Pat Benatar...it was the first song that came to mind that would fit Red Star. I did want to have my 10 yr old niece sing a new version of it but time got away from me...you certainly didn't want me to sing it!

Let me know what you think about Blotanical!

    Gail

  34. Marnie,

It's an interesting place! Let me know what you think!

  35. I'm obviously way behind the times. If I understood half of what you talked about, I'd be in good shape. Feedburner? What's that? I know, shameful for a blogger.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bonne,

It does sound like a whole lot of techie stuff! It's a way to manage information that is updated frequently, like news and blogs! We are now at the end of my knowledge base!

    More importantly, How are you?

    Gail

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi Gail, all the techie stuff sure can get intimidating at times. I was glad Stuart posted the step-by-step on how to switch to feedburner. I'm sure I couldn't have figured it out by myself. Even with Stuart's simple instructions, it still took me a while to switch because of the intimidation factor. How great that Frances was able to walk you through it.

Congratulations on receiving your red star! Hopefully Stuart in all his technical genius will get the mystery of the disappearing blogger blogs solved soon and Clay and Limestone will appear in the picks lists in all its glory with its newly-minted star.

p.s. I love Pat Benatar. Very clever use of that song!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Garden Girl,

Glad you like Pat's song! We were busy getting married and starting a family during her reign as queen of the airways, but I do remember singing along!

it is too funny that I decided to jump into Blotanical just when it developed problems! His last news update sounds like it's a pretty serious problem.

Frances was a great help with Blotanical. She still answers my questions! Aren't we lucky to have met such kind people blogging?

    Gail

  39. You're so nice Gail. I DO get frustrated from time to time but mostly waiting to see my favorite blogs load! I resize my photos (much smaller) before I post them so that helps a lot on my end. I have to allot myself a specific amount of time on the computer or I'd be waiting to look at blogs all day!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. kathleen,

That is discipline! I am impressed....I forget how spoiled I am to have internet service. Even then if I have to wait, you should hear me complain; you really don't want to! Can you view the videos? You aren't missing much if you can't see mine!

    Gail

    ReplyDelete
  41. I usually don't even try to watch the videos. They lock up my computer every time! One of these days, I'll have high speed and I'll probaby die at the difference it makes. I bet your caterpillar video is great no matter what you say!

    ReplyDelete
  42. kathleen,

it important to remember that not everyone has cable or dsl. I'll be sure to not make any post dependent upon the video. Thanks for letting me know.

  43. So I feel like a dinosaur--I don't know what Feedburner is, and nothing on the Blotanical site seemed to work (I don't know what a "Feed url" is--I assume it has to do with Feedburner?--and I couldn't find anything in the FAQ's OR get the "help" email to work). Sigh--you all seem excited about the site--is there something I'm missing to get started? Sorry to be such a dope--

    ReplyDelete
  44. cosmo, It's broken for blogger.com feedburners! I am not sure when it will be up and running but surely not too long from now! So sorry to get you all excited for a big letdown!

  45. Thanks for responding to my grumpy email--I did finally get through on the help line, I think--maybe I'll see you on Blotanical soon! (I saw yours was listed as the most active site this week!)
